I was wracking my brain last week, trying to come up with the perfect Mother's Day gift when my Outlook email alert went off and answered my prayers. A co-worker was giving away tickets to a ballet. It was the perfect gift!
My mom and aunt danced ballet through much of their adolescent and teen years and my grandmother was right there cheering them on, so I knew they would all love it.
On Saturday, May 8, we headed to UCLA (or Boo-C-L-A as my brother and I like to call it) to see the Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet at Royce Hall. The performance was great and featured a group of very talented dancers, including Ebony Williams who is one of Beyonce's Single Ladies in the award-winning video.
The ballet's choreography, props and story lines were very original and often incorporated humor, which kept the audience entertained throughout the night.
Los Angeles Times recently featured the New York-based dance company, who will begin a residency at UCLA next year.
